Where is Cancun?

Cancun is based on the Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo state. The city is divided into two distinct areas, the Isla Cancun or "Cancun Island" or the Ciudad Cancun translated as "Downtown Cancun" in English. Both places are places you can enjoy. For example, the Downtown Cancun is a typical Mexican town which is on the mainland. Majority of Cancun residents who work in the tourism section live in this area. Other things in this area are restaurants, markets, and hotels. The Cancun Island is very different from the Downtown Cancun. It is commonly known as the hotel zone or “Zona Hotelera.”

What to do

Some of the top activities you get to enjoy in Cancun include beautiful beaches where you can have a cold drink and relax or take a languid stroll. If you like scuba diving, para-sailing, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing, then this is a great place for you.

Another thing you can enjoy is shopping at the upscale boutiques and shops at luxury Avenue, Kukulcan Plaza, and La Isla Shopping Village. It has some of the affordable handicraft, gift shops and markets in Cancun.

Where to eat

You will love the food in Downtown Cancun. This place has a large array of restaurants and hotels to enjoy Mexican cuisines. On the Cancun island side, you will get resorts and hotel that offer excellent cuisines too. These might be a better choice for you, but if you want some adventure, try cuisines from the Downtown Cancun, they are perfect. Try Paradisus Cancun or Yucatecan cuisine.

There is an array of resorts and hotel that offer a European plan to tourists. They are a better choice for safety and security issues.

Day trips

There is so much to do and see in Cancun. It is the ideal place to discover Riviera Maya, visit archeological sites of Tulum, Coba and Chichen Itza. Isla Mujeres the place to visit. Located off the coast, Isla Mujeres has a laid back-vibe and tranquil beaches.

If you are planning on visiting Cancun, you don’t need to worry much about the weather, the tropical climate of the city means it is warmer all year around. But you need to be careful as it gets colder at night, especially during the winter.
